How do you define sales success?

If it’s solely by your bank account, you’re in danger of burnout and even failure.

How do you stay on track?

Redefine the meaning of success in your sales career…

Here’s a recap of everything in this episode of 5 Minute Sales Training:

Money does not buy happiness, but it does buy choices.

And it’s the quality of the choices that we make with our money that’s going to make all the difference.

Money doesn’t define us, but the choices that we make in life, absolutely do define us.

They define who we are. They define our character.

What does sales success look like?

I would say that career success happens when we’re able to make a good living doing something that we love and that has an impact.

And that’s why I love sales so much because we’re solving people’s problems.

If you’re good at it, then you should be well compensated for it. When we put those things together, I think we can label it as success.

Are you passionate about sales? Do you believe that you are helping people? That you’re making their lives better?

There are a whole lot of very snarky salespeople out there.

And if you’re only doing it for the money, I’m not sure you’re ever going to be really fulfilled.

Ask yourself this question, why do I do what I do?

Too many salespeople would say, “I do what I would do so I can make a lot of money.”

I have no argument whatsoever with wanting to make a good living. I have no problem with salespeople who make good money, but if that’s your only motivation, then you’re missing out on something.

You’re missing out on how you help your customer, how you serve your customer, how you solve your customers’ problems, how you make their life better.

Shouldn’t it be both?

But now if I add one more thing, enjoyment.

There are a lot of salespeople that do not enjoy sales.

I’ve been in the sales business more than 30 years and I love it. I love talking to customers. I love solving their problems.

Why can’t you enjoy what it is that you do in sales?

Put those three things together.

Solve people’s problems.

Enjoy what you are doing.

And be well compensated for it.

That’s what makes sales great.

We have one shot at this thing called life. Let’s do something that we really enjoy. Let’s do something that we’re passionate about and let’s do something that pays us well. That my friends is the world of sales.

Until next time, learn more to earn more.
