Top 5 Sales Tips for Beginners and Beyond

Whether you’re a long-time vet or are just starting out in sales, sometimes it’s good to get back into the learning cycle.

Because that’s how we grow! We learn. We practice. We succeed. We fail, and we learn some more!

Here’s to learning at EVERY level!

Trying something new can be scary. When starting new in sales, you don’t know what you don’t know. So, here are five sales tips for beginners.

If you aren’t having fun, they aren’t having fun.

Fun is about the idea of relaxed enjoyment of what’s going on around you. The fun factor is critical because the customer makes better decisions and enjoys the process more when relaxed and enjoying it.

Enjoy getting to know this new person in your life – your customer.

It’s not about you. It’s not even about your product.

The job of a sales professional is to solve the customer’s problem. But too often, salespeople think it’s all about how great they are or how great their product is.

Those salespeople will never fully understand the problem that their customer is experiencing, and the sales process becomes much more difficult for everyone.

Curiosity is a good life skill, but it’s a critical sales skill.

My suggestion is to practice your curiosity in life and draw that into sales. Ask questions and observe everything.

Chat it up with your next food server, find someone new in your community, and ask about their life. You could even get curious talking to your own teenager.

Know everything, share what matters.

Too often, salespeople go to a training session, and they learn all there is to learn about their new product, and then they proceed to dump all of that on their customers.

This is a big mistake. You do need to be an expert on what it is that you’re selling, but only share what matters to the customer.

Be confident.

Confidence is contagious. If you display confidence, confidence will be adopted by your customers.

When you believe very strongly in what it is you’re doing and you’ve mastered how you do it, confidence is the end result.

BONUS TIP >> Connect with Community

We learn better together than when we are alone. So, find a group of like-minded sales professionals to share successes, challenges, and life lessons with you.

It’s not hard to find a group of sales junkies. That’s exactly what my new sales training and community app, Sales365 is full of. If you haven’t checked it out yet, head over to sales365.io right now.

Welcome to sales, everyone.

Welcome to the journey of changing people’s lives!

Until next time learn more to earn more!
