The True Cost of Moving

The True Cost of Moving

How to Save Your Clients Time & Create a Seamless Moving Experience

Free time is already hard to come by. And consumers are always looking to save time in other parts  of their lives – from paying bills online and scheduling virtual doctor visits to ordering groceries and hailing a ride. Sales associates understand better than anyone that time is money, and that clients would benefit from reclaiming their precious time during the homebuying and selling process. Opendoor’s recent Home Move Tax Report breaks down the true time cost of moving so you can better support your clients in their buying and selling journey.

Clocking In

From cleaning and staging your home to managing repairs and accommodating showings, selling a home is such a commitment that the vast majority (71%) of respondents believe the process is like a second job. In fact, employed buyers and sellers are resorting to using precious PTO to check boxes off the moving to-do list – equating to over half a billion dollars in lost work time. Clients shouldn’t worry about building their home selling schedule around their existing work schedule, but instead feel free of extra stressors throughout the process.

Losing Sleep

Sellers are also losing precious Zs, with 85% staying up at night worrying about their home sale. The biggest stressor? More than 40% wonder if the offer will fall through – a valid concern given roughly 20% of transactions fall through* – and another 37% are sad to say “goodbye” to their home. This comes as no surprise, as sentimentality is an oft-ignored consideration in real estate.

Sales associates can reassure clients that losing sleep, missing out on quality time with family and friends (and pets), and lacking “me” time isn’t the norm when prepping your home for a sale. Giving clients the ability to reclaim their time, and sanity, during a major life milestone will make it a more seamless, pleasant experience.

If your clients are looking to catch up on sleep or to remove unnecessary stressors, Opendoor will help them reclaim their time so they can sell quickly and with more certainty.
