What It Takes To Be Successful That Nobody’s Teaching You

Not Taught: What It Takes to be Successful in the 21st Century that Nobody’s Teaching You is written by my friend Jim Keenan.

I’ll start by saying that this book is in your face.

Now, if you follow Jim Keenan online as I do, you’ll know he is simply not interested in soft-pedaling his opinion.

If you’re looking for fluffy inspiration, try Dr. Seuss. If you want a kick in the backside, read this book.

Keenan is one part genius, one part hip-hop artist, and one part lunatic football coach having an aneurysm on the sideline over a missed assignment.

And like a lunatic football coach, Jim’s language is exceedingly colorful – just a note for you sensitive types.

This is a different kind of book right from the beginning.

From the introduction:
• What if I told you your degree is less valuable today than it was 25 years ago?
• What if I told you that your professional experience doesn’t mean a hill of beans in today’s workforce?
• What if I told you that employers really don’t care anymore how hard you work?
• That your most valuable asset isn’t your house but your social media presence?

This is crazy stuff here – very 2.0 thinking. But it just makes sense.

This is less of a book in the traditional sense and more of a manifesto.

I can promise you one thing – this book has never been written before.

This is 100% certifiably fresh content.

If you’re squeamish, don’t read it.

If you want to jolt your success, devour it.

My suggestion: use this book as a scorecard.

Look at your reach, at your content, at your presence, at your adaptability.

And then be ready to change what you do.

Look, if you always do what you’ve always done you’ll always get what you always got, right?

So get ready to change – Keenan even challenges you on that by asking, “Are you a change resistor, change acceptor, or change creator”?

Here’s the most valuable takeaway, in my opinion.

Sales success is not measured in effort; it is measured in results.

Nobody cares about your resume, or your experience, or how many grueling hours you worked last week – they care about what you get done.

Do you live in a time and effort economy, or do you live in a results economy?

If you’re bored with the same ol’, same ol’ – pick up this book.

Read it cover to cover, or just pick it up in the middle of the day for a mental snack.

Keenan gets it right.

He tells it like it is.

Follow his advice.
