Can You Help Me?
Greetings, Shore Thing friends. I write something fresh every week for this post, but this week I’m going to ask rather than give.
I’m working on a new book and I’m looking for anecdotes and stories that will add real-world examples for the readers to relate to. Specifically, I’m looking for stories about overcoming discomfort and doing bold things.
I’m looking for every day stories that are highly relatable – trying something new, confronting a relationship issue, starting a business, dealing with a phobia, getting something patented, trying out for a band, etc. This is not a sales-specific book; I’m looking for anecdotes from all corners of life.
I need lots of stories so that I can choose those examples that most relate to the text. (That means many of the stories will not be used.)
Can you help? If you’re interested please cut-and-paste the following questions into an email, answer the questions, and send it to me at [email protected]. In so doing you are agreeing to have your name and story used in the book with no financial compensation (Fame? Possible. Fortune? Forget it!).
Here are the questions:
What was the discomfort you faced? Describe the situation that led to the choice you eventually made.
How long had you been dealing with that particular discomfort? Was there some trigger event that forced you hand and caused you to take a bold step?
What would have happened if you had instead opted for a more comfortable path?
What did you learn from the experience, and how has it helped you in other areas of your life?
